GARY A. SHIPMAN

Gary Shipman and Davisson Dunlap, Jr. founded Dunlap & Shipman, P.A. in 2004. In 2005, Mr. Shipman opened the South Walton County office of Dunlap & Shipman, P.A. when Mr. Shipman and his wife, Holly, made the permanent move to her home county. Holly’s family has resided in Walton County for eight generations. Mr. Shipman himself is a 4th generation native Floridian. Mr. Shipman obtained his Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Finance and a minor in Chemistry from Florida State University in 1980 and a Juris Doctorate with high honors from Florida State College of Law in 1986. He has been engaged in the private practice of law in civil litigation since graduating from law school. He has been a member of the Florida Bar since 1986 and is admitted to appear in the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Middle Districts of Florida, the U.S. Court of Appeals, 11th Circuit and the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Shipman has extensive trial experience in both State and Federal Court and is a State Certified Circuit Court Mediator. Over the course of his career, Mr. Shipman has appeared and represented clients in The Circuit Courts in forty of Florida’s sixty-seven counties, in the Federal District Court for the Northern and Middle Districts of Florida, and on a pro hac vice basis in the United States District Courts for the Middle District of Georgia and the District of Columbia. He has also appeared on behalf of clients, pro
hac vice, in the Supreme Court of New York, Manhattan Division and the Superior Court of Arapahoe County, Colorado. Mr. Shipman has represented clients and tried cases in Florida Administrative Law Court, and has filed briefs and presented oral arguments in the First, Second and Fifth District Courts of Appeal, The Supreme Court of Florida and the United States 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Shipman currently serves on the Board of Directors of Regional Utilities and the Walton County Small Business Association.
